The Russian military looks set to revolutionise war with the creation of ‘robot soldiers’.
Meet Ivan the Terminator, Russia’s answer to, well, The Terminator. This terrifying new robot soldier is part of the country’s latest high-tech weaponry push to compete with other world superpowers including the U.S. and China.
According to Russian newspaper Komosomolskaya Pravd, the droid is designed ‘to replace the person in the battle or in emergency areas where there is a risk of explosion, fire, high background radiation, or other conditions harmful to humans.’
It seems they’re pretty damn serious about this ambitious project, adding: “The development of a special military robot is one of the priorities of military construction in Russia.”
Despite the fact these machines are remotely controlled, there are fears that they could the freedom to act independently in the future. A terrifying thought.
These robots can drive cars automatically by scanning the roads ahead of them and even more impressively, mimic the exact movements of a human- this is down to a special control suit that is worn by the robots operator.
As well as their development of cyborg soldiers, Russia are also ploughing money into other technological warfare including aerial drones, tank drones, and robot-controlled military vehicles.
